The Retros
We discuss the best picture decisions made by the Academy and whether they were right or wrong...we decide! We also discuss the many different categories and movies of the particular Oscar year we are reviewing and add a few new categories ourselves.
You can find us at any of the major social media at theretrospodcast or you can also write to us at theretrospodcast@gmail.com.
The Retros
Episode 18: 2008
Back to the 2000s and another list of fantastic movies! We were really excited to talk about the best picture nominations:
- Slumdog Millionaire
- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
- Frost/Nixon
- Milk
- The Reader
Plus a few other categories we felt needed to be added to the Oscar list like Comedy Gold, The Independent Darling, and Who Did It Best!
This week we deep dive into Ironman launching of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and what superheroes would we have started MCU with, hint: it's probably Spider Man. Are the James Bond films sequels to each other, or episodes of one big franchise? We argue about that. We also discuss the sheer fighting power of Joan Fontaine and Joan Crawford and how the actresses from the remake of The Women would compare. And Cord's apparent fascination with Bruce Vilanch. All this and more!
Want to be part of the excitement, listen and find out who we think could have been added to the Best Picture list! Was the Academy right? Do you agree with our correct assessments? Listen and find out! Don't forget to follow us on any of the major social media at theretrospodcast.
